August 27 Update

Just got the call that we can make travel plans! We leave on 9/9 and return on 9/18. The adoption agency was surprised this milestone came so quickly.

Rex' medical exam is not until 9/4 and so technically travel plans are not recommended until after the exam, but our agency said it's okay to make travel plans. Northwest Airlines has an adoption fare, which is totally refundable and changeable without a fee, so should we have to delay travel due to the exam, there is no fee.

Thank you for supporting us!

August 24 Update

Our social workers recently returned from a ten-day trip to the Philippines and they brought back good news. Rex’ case number has been assigned by the Embassy. What’s next is a medical exam and once Rex passes that exam, we can make travel plans. We were told we can expect to travel in three weeks, but we can’t make travel plans until Rex passes his medical exam. That exam might be this week.

We learned that Rex is getting a medical exam every month because he’s in foster care. He gets more frequent medical care than Asia does! We also learned that his foster family (Caesar, Elizabeth, Kyle [21 yrs] and Kim [15 yrs]) is experiencing strong emotions in letting go of Rex.

You can pray for two things:

1. A healthy medical report
2. Comfort for all the people who are letting go of Rex

Thank you!

In Rex' Shoes

"In Rex' Shoes," I recorded a presentation about adoption. The purpose is to:

1) understand life from the adopted child's perspective;
2) explain the adoption process;
3) learn what our family's goals are and how others can h...elp.

If you experience a “codec” error when viewing the adoption presentation, you might need to install the correct codec. This has been a successful fix for some people:
